Author: Lawrence Levy
One day, out of the blue, Steve Jobs called Lawrence Levy, a Harvard-trained lawyer and Silicon Valley executive to whom he had never spoken before, in the hope of persuading Levy to help him get Pixar on the right track.
This is a great story about finding solutions to impossible situations. Levy is brought in by Steve Jobs to a small company with a bunch of creative guys doing great things - they just couldn’t make any money. Levy finds a way to fix that. But in the process he protects the creators and allows them artistic freedom. He talks about the ‘middle way’ and balancing creativity with structure and pragmatism. Ironically he sees his contribution as the ying to their yang...but it takes an extraordinary amount of vision to achieve what he did. Was he really the yang to their ying? Creativity takes many forms.
